Hot Sauce Definition: Hot Sauce, Chile Sauce, and Pepper Sauce all refer to a broad category of spicy sauces made from chile peppers and a variety of other ingredients. In the U.S., we generally refer to this category of sauces as Hot Sauce, and the ingredient base includes chili peppers, vinegar, salt, and other spices. The most predominant peppers in Hot Sauces are Jalapeno, Habanero, Cayenne, Chipotle, Scotch Bonnet, as well as Ancho and Serrano Chiles.
